Mobility: The Missing Link In Your Swing

Why Mobility Matters in Golf

Mobility is your body’s ability to move freely through a full range of motion.

In golf, that means turning your shoulders without losing posture, rotating your hips independently of your spine, and finishing your swing without pain or restriction.

If any of those are stiff, tight, or compensating—you’re losing distance, efficiency, and consistency every time you swing.

What the TPI Screen Reveals

Our movement screen pinpoints where mobility is holding you back. The most common red flags we see in golfers include:

🚫 Tight Hips – Limits rotation and can overload your lower back

🚫 Stiff Thoracic Spine – Reduces shoulder turn and tempo🚫 Poor Ankle Mobility – Impacts balance and lower-body loading

🚫 Restricted Shoulders – Affects backswing control and arm speed

🚫 Limited Neck Mobility – Can throw off alignment and lead to tension

Why You Need to Train It

Mobility doesn't improve by accident. It requires smart, targeted training to:

Loosen tight areas without sacrificing stability

Improve rotation and disassociation (upper vs. lower body control)

Reduce compensations that lead to injury

Set the foundation for strength and power development

Bonus: Improving mobility can also enhance your swing tempo, reduce tension under pressure, and help you recover faster between rounds.

Strength Supports Stability, Power & Precision

You wouldn’t use the same swing for every shot—so why would you train like every other gym-goer and expect it to improve your golf game?

Golf isn’t just about skill. It’s about movement.

Strength training for golf isn’t about bulking up—it’s about building stability, control, and resilience, especially as we age.

A strong body maintains posture, absorbs force, and transfers energy efficiently through the swing.

As we get older, strength becomes even more critical for protecting joints, preventing injury, and staying active on the course.

And importantly, Strength creates the foundation for Power.

The right fitness program doesn’t just help you play better today—it keeps you playing well into the future. Golf-specific strength and stability training can help you:

  • Generate more club head speed with less effort

  • Improve your balance and swing mechanics

  • Reduce aches, stiffness, and pain

  • Increase endurance so you don’t fatigue by the back nine

Power Is Built, Not Born

Want to add effortless distance to your drives? Generate more club head speed? Hit the ball further with less effort ?

Then it’s time to train for power —the key to unlocking explosive rotational strength and maximising performance on the course.

At Swing Fit, we take a scientific approach to power development using training methods to enhance your ability to create, store, and transfer energy efficiently throughout your swing.

More power doesn’t mean swinging harder—it means having the mobility and strength to move smarter and faster.

Golf Fitness Assessment Screen

Don't know your golf fitness handicap, or wondering why you should get one?

The TPI movement screen is a simple test to quickly evaluate a player’s physical capabilities. We also use those results to create a unique plan for you.

Just like your golf handicap your golf fitness handicap ranges from 36 to +7. The better your handicap the better your body moves so you can say goodbye to:

  • Persistent aches and pains every time you play.

  • The limitations that are impacting the way you swing.

  • The compensatory patterns your body defaults to due to lack golf fitness.
